IUD Insertion

Birth Control That Works on Your Terms

An IUD is one of the most effective and low-maintenance forms of birth control available. Once it’s in, you don’t have to think about it for years. No daily pills, no monthly refills, no guesswork.
At Purple Medical’s Mission clinic, Dr. Joy Anosike performs IUD insertions and removals with a gentle, patient-first approach. She takes time to explain your options, answer every question, and make sure you’re comfortable before, during, and after the procedure.
Whether you’re considering an IUD for the first time, switching from another method, or need a replacement, this is a judgment-free space designed around your needs.

Understanding Your Options

There are two main types of IUDs, and Dr. Anosike will help you decide which one is right for you.
Hormonal IUD
Releases a small amount of progestin locally. Lasts 3 to 7 years depending on the brand. Often makes periods lighter — some patients stop having them altogether. Common brands: Mirena, Kyleena, Jaydess
Copper IUD
Hormone-free. Uses copper to prevent pregnancy. Lasts up to 10 years. A solid choice if you prefer to avoid hormonal methods entirely. Common brand: Mona Lisa
