Protection That Does Not Cost You a Thing

British Columbia funds a wide range of vaccines for residents of all ages. If you have a BC Services Card, many of the most important immunizations are available to you at no out-of-pocket cost.
At Purple Medical, our pharmacists administer these publicly funded vaccines on a walk-in and appointment basis. No referral needed. No long wait times. Just show up with your Care Card and we will take care of the rest.
Whether you are here for your annual flu shot, catching up on childhood vaccines your kids may have missed, or getting a COVID-19 booster, we follow the BC Immunization Schedule and the latest BCCDC guidelines to make sure you are fully protected.

Vaccines We Administer

Seasonal Flu Shot
Available every fall for all BC residents aged 6 months and older. Especially important for seniors, pregnant women, young children, and those with chronic health conditions. Walk-ins welcome during flu season.
COVID-19 Vaccine
Updated COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available as recommended by the BCCDC. We carry the latest approved formulations. Eligible for all BC residents — no cost, no appointment required in most cases.
RSV Vaccine
Respiratory Syncytial Virus can be serious for infants and older adults. BC now funds RSV immunization for eligible populations. Ask us if you or a family member qualifies.
Pneumonia Vaccine
Pneumococcal vaccines (Prevnar 20, Pneumovax 23) are publicly funded for seniors 65+ and individuals with certain chronic conditions. One dose can provide years of protection.
Herpes Zoster (Shingles) Vaccine
Shingrix is a recombinant vaccine that protects against shingles (reactivation of varicella-zoster virus) and its complications. It is recommended for adults 50 years and older, including those with a history of chickenpox. A 2-dose series, typically 2 to 6 months apart, provides >90% protection against shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia
Childhood Vaccines
The full BC childhood immunization schedule — from the 2-month DTaP series through to the Grade 9 school-based programs. If your child has fallen behind, we can get them caught up.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine
Gardasil protects against infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical, anal, penile, oropharyngeal (throat), vulvar, and vaginal cancers, as well as genital warts. Routinely recommended for preteens to provide protection before potential exposure, you may be eligible for a free vaccination series.
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Vaccine
Protects against highly contagious viral infections. Prevents measles complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis, reduces risk of mumps-related infertility and complications, prevents rubella and congenital rubella syndrome in pregnancy. Usually given in childhood as a 2-dose series. You may be eligible for a free series or a booster dose.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?

The short answer: almost everyone. The BC immunization program covers a wide range of ages and risk groups.
Infants & Children
Starting at 2 months old. The BC schedule includes DTaP, IPV, Hib, MMR, varicella, and more — all free.
Teens & Young Adults
School-based programs in Grades 6 and 9 cover HPV, Hepatitis B, and meningococcal vaccines. Missed one? We can catch you up.
Adults
Annual flu shots are free for all BC residents. COVID-19 vaccines and boosters remain available. Adults with chronic conditions may qualify for additional funded vaccines.
Seniors (65+)
Flu, pneumonia, shingles, and COVID-19 — all funded. These vaccines matter most for this age group, where complications can be serious.

Yes. If you hold a valid BC Services Card, publicly funded vaccines are provided at no out-of-pocket cost. This includes flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, RSV vaccine (for eligible ages), pneumonia vaccine, and the full childhood immunization schedule.

No appointment is needed for most public vaccines. Simply walk into either of our pharmacy locations during business hours. For some vaccines, we may recommend calling ahead to confirm availability.
